Biography:


Mariano Rajoy was born in Santiago de Compostela, Spain, in 1955. Mariano Rajoy is the current Prime Minister of Spain. Mariano Rajoy studied law at the University of Santiago de Compostela. Mariano Rajoy began his political career as a member of the Galician Parliament. Mariano Rajoy moved through the ranks and eventually became a member of Spain's Parliament and he served in several important ministerial posts including Minister of the Education and Minister of the Interior.

Mariano Rajoy became the leader of the People's Party in 2004, he served as leader of the opposition from 2004 up until 2011. His party won the 2011 General Elections and Mariano Rajoy became Spain's new Prime Minister.
