Current Situation


Maldives is located in the Indian Ocean. Maldives being an island has no natural neighbours. Maldives' economy is based around tourism and fishing, these two sectors bring in a majority of the total GDP.

(2014) The economy of the Maldives managed a strong growth rate in 2013. The strong growth rate can be attributed to higher demand in the tourism sector.
