Current Situation

Kiribati is located in located in the Pacific Ocean. Kiribati is made up of thousands of islands and is surrounded by similar island nations. Kiribati's economy benefits from tourism, fishing and copra. Kiribati does however receive significant foreign aid which makes up 25-50% of its GDP.

(2014) Kiribati's economy continues to grow at a steady although relatively slow pace. Kiribati could become the first victim of global warming as the government is making preparations for the possibility that rising sea water will one day engulf its islands.
