Prokopis Pavlopoulos was born in Kalamata, Greece, in 1950. Prokopis Pavlopouloss is the current President of Greece. He studied at the University of Athens and also at the Pantheon-Assas University in Paris. He served as a Professor at the University of Athens until 1989.

Prokopis Pavlopoulos was first elected to the Greek Parliament in 1996, although his involvement in politics had started long before this. He was re-elected in 2000, 2004, 2007, 2009 and in 2012.

Prokopis Pavlopoulos was nominated by Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras to become the President of Greece and Pavlopoulos was subsequently elected as President by the Greek Parliament

Alexis Tsipras was born in Athens, Greece, in 1974. Alexis Tsipras is the current Prime Minister of Greece. He studied at the National Technical University of Athens. He become involved with Syriza in 2000 and moved up internally through the ranks.

Alexis Tsipras was first elected to the Greek Parliament in 2009, he would also become the leader of Syriza following this election. In the 2012 elections Syriza made some major gains. In the 2015 general elections Syriza had its best result ever and was able to form the new Government of Greece with Tsipras as the new Greek Prime Minister.

Alexis Tsipras' government is opposed to Greek austerity and is currently involved in a showdown with international and European Union creditors regarding the terms of its bailout package, it is still unclear what the outcome of these discussions will be.

Karolos Papoulias was born in Ioannina, Greece, in 1929. Karolos Papoulias is the current President of Greece. Karolos Papoulias received a degree of law from the University of Athens and the University of Milan, and eventually a doctorate from the University of Cologne.

Karolos Papoulias was first elected to parliament in 1977 and held his seat until 2004. In 2004 he ran in the presidential elections and eventually won and was sworn in, in 2005. Karolos Papoulias was re-elected for a second term in 2010. His term as President of Greece ended on March 13th 2015.

Antonis Samaras was born in Athens, Greece, in 1951. Antonis Samaras is the current Prime Minister of Greece. Antonis Samaras obtained a Bachelor's degree in Economics from Amherst College and also an MBA degree from Harvard University. Antonis Samaras was first elected as a Member of the Hellenic Parliament in 1977 as a member of the New Democracy Party. He quickly rose to the ranks and in 1989 he became the Finance Minister of Greece.

He would eventually leave the New Democracy Party and found his own party in 1992, however during this time his new part was not very succesful in the general elections and he would rejoin the New Democracy Party in 2004. He would be elected to the European Parliament in 2004, and in 2007 he was elected in local elections and returned to the Hellenic Parliament. Antonis Samaras became the new leader of the New Democracy Party in 2009.

In the May 2012 elections his party obtained the most votes, however he was unable to form a coalition government with enough support to govern, when the other large parties failed to form a coalition of their own, new elections we're called for June 2012. This time the New Democracy Party obtained more seats and were able to form a coalition government with the help of other parties. Following this Antonis Samaras became the Greek Prime Minister on June 20th 2012.

Antonis Samaras was defeated in the 2015 general elections by Alexis Tsipras' Syriza party.

Lucas Papademos was born in Athens, Greece, in 1947. Lucas Papademos is the current Prime Minister of Greece. Lucas Papademos obtained a Bachelor in physics from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, and also a Master's degree in electrical engineering and a doctorate in economics all from MIT. Lucas Papademos worked at Colombia University and the University of Athens as a economics professor. Lucas Papademos has worked as a Senior Economist for the Reserve Bank of Boston, he was the Chief Economist of the Bank of Greece before becoming it's Governor in 1994. In 2002 he became the Vice President at the European Central Bank, a post he held until 2010. He was selected as the new Prime Minister of Greece on November 11 2011, following the resignation of George Papandreou. Papademos faces the difficult task of leading Greece through it's current debt crisis.
