Biography:


Michelle Bachelet was born in Santiago, Chile, in 1951. Michelle Bachelet is the current President of Chile. Michelle Bachelet studied medicine at the University of Chile and also for brief periods at the University of Leipzig and Berlin. Michelle Bachelet's father Alberto Bachelet Martinez was arrested following the 1973 coup of Augusto Pinochet, he later died from a heart attack induced by repeated torture. Michelle Bachelet left Chile from 1975 to 1979 after she was herself arrested by the government.


Michelle Bachelet joined politics in the 1990's, in 2000 she became the Minister of Health and in 2002 became the Minister of National Defence. In 2005 she was elected as the first female President of Chile and served until the 2009 elections as she was unable to run for a second consecutive term under Chilean law.

Michelle Bachelet was elected again as the President of Chile in the 2013 elections which she won the second round with 62% of the vote.

Biography:


Sebastian Pinera was born in Santiago, Chile, in 1949. Sebastian Pinera is the current President of Chile. His education includes a degree in economics from the Pontifical Catholic University of Chile, and a Master's degree and a PhD in economics from Harvard University. In his early career he was a university lecturer and a successful investor, through which channel he amassed most of his great fortune.


His political career began in 1990 when he was elected as a senator. Sebastian Pinera attempted to run in the 1992 presidential elections but a scandal surfaced and he retired his bid. Sebastian Pinera ran again in 2005 and got to the second round before losing to Michelle Bachelet. In 2009 he ran again and eventually won in the second round of votes in 2010.
