Zeljko Komsic was born in Sarajevo, Bosnia and Herzegovina, in 1964. Zeljko Komsic is the Croatian member of the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina. Komsic obtained a law degree from the University of Sarajevo, and he also studied at Georgetown University in Washington, D.C. During the Bosnian War he served as part of the Army of Bosnia and Herzegovina. He is a decorated war hero.
Following the war he began his career in politics first by sitting on the city councils for Sarajevo and Novo Sarajevo. At this time he also joined the Social Democratic Party of Bosnia and Herzegovina. When his party came to power in 1998, he was named as the ambassador to the Federal Republic of Yugoslavia, now broken up into Serbia, Kosovo and Montenegro. Zeljko Komsic is less popular with nationalist Croats, as he does not play into their rhetoric and refuses to create divisions inside the fragile harmony in Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Haris Silajdzic, served as the foreign minister of Bosnia and Herzegovina from 1990 to 1993. He became the Prime Minister of Bosnia and Herzegovina in 1993 until 1996. He was a leading player in negotiating the Dayton Accords that ultimately ended the Bosnian War. However he remains a harsh critic of the atrocities committed during the war, and is not afraid of calling out inaction in prosecuting the culprits.
