Gaston Browne was born in Potters Village, Antigua and Barbuda, in 1967. Gaston Browne studied at the City Banking College and also the University of Manchester in the United Kingdom. Gaston Browne had a distinguished career in banking before joining politics. His Labour Party won the 2014 general elections and replaced the government of Baldwin Spencer in June 2014.

Winston Baldwin Spencer was born in Antigua and Barbuda in 1948. His education includes stays in Canada, Norway and the United Kingdom. Before entering politics Winston Baldwin Spencer was involved in labour movements, of which he was a prominent leader. Winston Baldwin Spencer was elected to parliament for the first time in 1989, he was part of the opposition and eventually the opposition leader until he was elected prime minister in 2004. Winston Baldwin Spencer is well regarded internationally for his diplomatic skills, he also serves as his country's foreign minister. Winston Baldwin Spencer was defeat in the 2014 general elections by Gaston Browne.
